Strukton Civiel and ChargeMakers jointly provide charging solutions on the construction site

ChargeMakers Strukton collaboration temporary charging points construction and civil infrastructure

The construction site is changing; it's becoming even quieter, cleaner and safer, mostly due to the use of electrical equipment. This change does not happen by itself, new solutions are needed to optimally deploy this equipment. That's why Strukton Civiel Start-up & Innovation Center en ChargeMakers provide temporary charging infrastructure at construction sites and infrastructure works.

Electrification in the construction sector makes possible what was not possible with current fossil fuel solutions; emission-free working in areas where this is a must. Think of Natura2000 or inner-city areas. This means that there is an increasing need for temporary charging infrastructure on those construction sites, which requires specific solutions. ChargeMakers already provides charging infrastructure for major events and conferences. Just like construction, these are locations that require a temporary infrastructure.

“A collaboration in the construction and infrastructure sector was therefore a logical next step,” says Annemarie Boereboom, New Business Development Manager at Strukton Civiel

With his idea of temporary charging points, Caspar Schoenmakers founded ChargeMakers in 2019. Where fixed charging points are not possible or if there is temporary demand, ChargeMakers has a unique solution to offer with the plug & play charging hubs.

Caspar Schoenmakers adds; “The collaboration with the Strukton Civiel Start-up & Innovation Center offers the opportunity to combine ChargeMakers' unique solution with Strukton's knowledge and expertise in construction and infrastructure. We see many opportunities in this industry and look forward to a successful collaboration.”

“Wherever possible, Strukton opts for electric. That is the case with us, but nowadays it already applies to the entire construction sector,” says Eric Van Roekel, Director of the Strukton Civiel Start-up & Innovation Centre. “The solution for temporary charging infrastructure is therefore not only intended for us, but for the entire sector. We all have the same ambition to work sustainably, let's achieve that in collaboration.”

ChargeMakers charges an electric boat in the Port of Rotterdam

To charge electric workboats in the Port of Rotterdam, we combined our mobile DC fast charger with a battery buffer from a battery rental company. The result: a fully mobile solution that let an electric workboat charge right at the quay, without a fixed connection, grid upgrade or digging. Ideal for ports, where grid capacity is often limited and flexibility is essential. 'We combined for the
