Holiday 2021 update from Caspar: As part of 'practice what you preach' we went on holiday for the first time with our electric car. We drove to Italy and in a nutshell this was our experience (spoiler: recommended!):
- Went on vacation with an EV for the first time (affectionately our 'electric little cake', 2021 Model 3 LR) ✅
- Extensive preparation with routes and chargers ❌
- Brought too much stuff (and it fit fine) ✅
- Drove hypermiling in the right lane ❌
- Had to stop more often than with a petrol car (because I also had to stop for lunch/pee) ❌
- Went well, 3500km long (all 5 of us) ✅
- At the agriturismos at the grannycharger (sometimes for a fee) ✅
- Unleash an EV beautifully on Tuscan winding roads; 'it feels like a rollercoaster dad!' ✅
Now safely back home, recharged, and ready to get to work 💥
